What I Like

Every morning I like to wait for the sun to come up; every night I like to count how many stars are in the sky. When it snows I like to go out walking on the mountains by myself, and let the snowflakes fall onto my eyelashes and brush against my face. All these things give me the feeling of a daydream. I like to go searching for my soul in the coolness of the night wind.

I like the quiet, when I can sit alone and read to myself. I like to go out into the wilderness and run as fast as I can run, shouting at the top of my lungs as I run. If you are not pretty, I will not say you are beautiful or handsome. If you are not smart, I will not praise you. If you are a daydreamer, I will not call you a wonderful romantic. Admittedly, the things I say or do not say will not make you happy, but please forgive me. I like to be honest and truthful. If you are a talented and capable person, if you are very brave, or if you are attractive or cute, I will secretly like you. A day will come when I will come before you and tell you, "I admire you very much." In truth, I like things that are real.

I like the quality of some girls, who are polite and understand the importance of custom, and are capable yet gentle like Dai Yu. I also like the quality of boys, who will lend a helping hand to others in need. The girls of Jian Hu are like Qio Jin--they are direct and speak what is on their minds. I like the quiet peace of Wei Lar, how he trusted others, and how he always remembered that inner matters of the heart were important. I like the peaceful nature of angels, and their gentleness, but it is always very hard to change my own faults.

I like the warm days of spring, the new blossoming of the plants. I like the heat of summer, when the sun beats down on you. I like the coolness of autumn, the joy of the farmers when they are harvesting their crops. I like the hard cold of winter, when the cold goes down to your very bones.

I love all these things in the world other than dark and unpleasant things. Please do not secretly laugh at me--these things just make up the rainbow of my life.
