My Heart's Angel

Among today's many entertainment stars, I love Wang Fei the most. Not only does Wang Fei have a beautiful voice, but she is also a special and unique woman with her own personal outlook on things. She's truly a trendsetter. Although Wang Fei's relationship with Ting Feng, well known as the "The Love of Feng Fei," is becoming cliche in entertainment news, I still appreciate Wang Fei's fairy tale love story set at the beginning of the new century. Though people think Wang Fei is sophisticated and cool, Ah-Fei has her own special ways of showing her true colors.

Every detail of Wang Fei and Ting Feng's lives is scrutinized by the press, but Wang Fei doesn't care. Maybe it's her spirit, her daring to love and daring to hate, that makes her fans line up wherever she goes and cheer.

Wang Fei started taking part in the ABM singing competition when she was 19. She won second prize for "Still the Same Old Line." Then, she successfully made her first recording, "Can't Help That Day," under the name Wang Jing Wen. Recently she made another recording, self-titled "Wang Fei." It had been 12 years between the two recordings; how time flies. I still remember the first time I heard Wang Fei on the radio--I was only in primary school. I heard "Easily Hurt Woman" and "I Am Willing" and was drawn to her music by the rhythm and motion in her songs. Later, listening to the theme song "Angel" from the movie "The Legend of People and Fish," I was once again drawn to her angelic voice. So, I went to the store and bought Wang Fei's solo album. At the time, my view of Wang Fei was quite different. I liked her songs, and I recognized that she could bring poetry and color to even the most ordinary songs. But, I didn't like her personality because she always appeared cold and aloof, like a bad girl. Now that I've come to understand her from TV and radio, my sense of things is maturing, and I see that her coldness is also a way she shows her individuality. I think Wang Fei is one of those very aloof types of people, and I think that cool, aloof image suits her well.

Though this year Wang Fei is over 30 years old, her beautiful aloof image is still like the young Wang Jing Wen who first stepped into the spotlight all those years ago.

Today, Wang Fei's name is famous all over China and even throughout Asia, but she isn't looking for more money and fame. She already has the person she loves, and her beloved daughter Dou Jing Tong is always by her side. As a woman and mother, she sacrificed some of the fame and fortune that many people seek. But, she got much better things out of the deal. Many people still like her and they fall all over themselves in admiration of her personality. Her songs show her continuing creativity. Perhaps in the future, Wang Fei will leave entertainment and enjoy a happy life, or maybe she will keep working and leading trends in the Chinese music business.
