Out and About Kangding

My hometown is the most famous place in the world, Kangding. There are many beautiful rivers and mountains around Kangding. Such beautiful scenery is quite rare, and so it attracts almost two hundred thousand tourists to Kangding from all over the world each year. Because Kangding is so far from the big cities, the economy here is not particularly strong, but it's a very beautiful place!

Paoma Mountain is located by "Princess Bridge" in Kangding. It is made famous by a Chinese folk song that describes the scenery of Paoma Mountain, its clear sky and white clouds. Because of this song, Paoma Mountain is known worldwide and has become the main attraction for Kangding's tourism industry. There are many beautiful sites on the mountain itself, such as a large Stupa, Nine Dragons Temple, and East View Gazebo. I grew up in Kangding and so I know all there is to know about this place!

Ever since Deng Xiao Ping started his policy of "reform and opening," opening China's economy to the world, my country's economy has improved rapidly. Naturally, Kangding is no exception. Kangding is changing before my eyes. The old tar roads have become cement, and the cars on the highway are now from all over the world. Street lamps line the roads and tall modern buildings are everywhere. The forest area in the mountains has increased, as the ethic of environmental protection has spread. Society's laborers now have an improved standard of living.

Every year, I go to the April 8th Paoma Shan festival. It has changed through the years. Nowadays, there are more and more travelers and not as many locals. On the path up to Paoma Shan, the air is fresh and clean and makes everyone feel relaxed and happy. As you're strolling around the winding mountain paths, listening to the birds singing in the trees and the gurgling sound of the streams, once in a while you can see some squirrels playing by the side of the road and also the local horses, cows, and sheep lazily wandering around and eating the grass.

The Tagong grassland is located on the border of Kangding. When you take a bus to the Tagong grasslands, you are greeted by wide blue skies and surrounded by mountains. There is green as far as the eye can see. White clouds float against the blue sky. Under the clouds are horses running around the grassland. Tmmhe young Tibetan horse riders display their admirable riding skills and are praised by everyone watching. There are many tents on the grassland. I walk into a warm and comfortable tent; an old Tibetan grandmother offers me butter tea and an old Tibetan grandfather offers me yak jerky. The beautiful Tibetan ladies even dance for me!

Hailogou Glacier National Park is located in Hailogou, because the year's accumulation of snow forms a beautiful glacier. When you walk into the glacier park, it's like walking into a crystal. Although it's freezing cold there, you will still feel happy to see such a marvelous sight!

I love my hometown! From now on, I will study hard to work towards the improvement of my hometown.
