A Story about Kangding

On your way to Guza from Kangding, you can see a big black stone on a mountain. It is very long, and it looks like a snake. This story is about the stone that looks like a snake.

A long time ago, there was a village. Everyone who lived in the village was happy.

But one day, a big and strong snake was coming. It was black. It ate a boy and a girl every year. People were afraid of it, but what can they do? So some people moved away. Some people lived there like before. They did not move away.

There was a clever worker in the village. He could make lots of useful things with metal. He had a son and a daughter. He loved them and the children loved their father, too. The snake wanted to eat them very much. But the worker did not want the snake to eat them. So one day, the worker made two people with metal. One was a boy, and the other was a girl. Then he put them in the fire. The metal turned hotter and hotter. At last, he put them outside. The snake saw the metal, and it thought that the metal was a boy and a girl, so it ate them. Oh dear! The metal hurt its mouth and teeth. It felt very thirsty. It wanted to drink. So went into the river, and began to drink. Oh my god! The river would soon be empty. The king of the mountain was a deity. He was afraid that the snake would drink all of the water, so he dropped a big stone on the snake. The snake died. In the end, the snake turned a stone. So, you can see a big black stone on the mountain.
