The Potala Palace

The Potala Palace is a very important cultural treasure. It also represents the embodiment of Tibetan wisdom. The Potala Palace is in the southwest of China, in the center of Tibet. The Potala Palace stands like a great elephant on the mountain, a great towering building. The Potala Palace has a history of three thousand years.

In 700 BC, the Tibetan king, Songtsan Gampo, repaired the Potala Palace. He repaired all the rooms in palace, including different bedrooms, and all 999 rooms in the palace. Time and the different hardships of the environment had badly damaged the Potala Palace. At the time, the positions of Songstan Gampo, Wen Chen Gong Zhu, Jing Chen Gong Zhu, and Tun Mi Sang Bu Zha were very high. There were portraits of them hanging in the Potala Palace which lasted for a very long time.

In 1645, the 5th Dalai Lama expanded and repaired the white house of the Potala Palace. From that point on, the remains of the 5th Dalai Lama resided in a tomb at the Palace. At that time, the Potala Palace was expanded once again.
